  Ireland food prices: 0.3% inflation in September 2026, below average

  Food prices in Ireland were 0.3% higher in September 2026 than a year earlier, slightly above August's 0.1% but far below the 4.7% rate of September 2025. On Vernumo's own calculation from the official series, that is well under the ten-year average of 1.7% and a long way from the 13.3% peak first reached in February 2023.

  Ireland rent increase: 6.3% in September 2026, still ahead of pay

  Rents in Ireland were 6.3% higher in September 2026 than a year earlier, a faster rise than in August, while hourly pay grew 3.9% in the year to the second quarter. Pay growth has picked up since late 2025, but rents are still climbing faster, so renting continues to take a bigger bite out of earnings.
